About Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

"Nonviolent Communication is based on the principle of Ahimsa — the natural state of compassion when no violence is present in the heart." ~ Marshall Rosenberg, founder of NVC

Nonviolent Communication is a way of being in the world that has the purpose to serve life and to create connection in such a way that everyone’s needs can be met through natural care. Find out more here: CNVC.ORG

Testimonials

  • "Jem has extraordinary sensitivity and intuition about what a person needs. It seems to me she's very deeply listening to a person's process, and she's so there, she's just one breath away from where they need to go next. She has a natural gift for going into deep places with participants and making it safe." -G.W

  • "It was excellent. My first experience with NVC. Everything was explained really well, the exercises we did were very powerful, the atmosphere created by Jem through the very effective teaching and facilitation made everyone feel very at ease. Although it was a group of strangers, it was easy to be open and participate as it felt very safe. " -U.M

  • "She is strong and gentle, has a clear understanding of power dynamics and how to dissolve power differentials, she has the tools and integration to share NVC with others with great purity and integrity." -N.B

  • "There was a lot of space to ask questions and begin a dialogue in the group. Jem was really clear in her responses and the way things were explained, and also opened space for the rest of the group to contribute our own understanding and view points." - E.B

  • “I felt Jem created an held a beautiful space for the workshop - where vulnerability, fun & deeper enquiry were accepted and encouraged.” - RP

  • ‘This training was really informative on the basics of NVC. It helped me understand the concepts of what NVC is and the role empathy plays in our day to day lives when living and communicating with others in any situation, through discussion, role play and exercises” -C.M

  • “The theory was broken down into easily understandable small steps, with a practice after each step to apply the theory. It was a comprehensive introduction of using NVC for a more compassionate approach with oneself and others and it was presented in a practical way” - M.T

  • “Having volunteered for one as a demonstration I was surprised and impressed by how at ease she made me feel through her sure footed guidance, and how powerful it’s effect was, even though I was very nervous about doing the demonstration. The active participation in a number of exercises in small groups after the theory had been explained was incredibly effective in making me feel as though i understood and was immediately integrating the learnings, as well as making very genuine human connections with the others in the group.” -U.M

  • ‘She has authority in her work, a gentle presence, and honesty and courage in communicating her own experience. Her integrity enabled me to participate honestly from my heart.” - D.S
